Ok. One more funny thing from the mouth of Sofie...

We went on a bike ride today and she rode her scooter. Our destination was a fun park up by the lake. It's about 2 miles away. We were halfway up our street and Sofie says, "Oh! I really want to stop, but I don't want to, because I want to get lots of muscles." So cute! She made it all the way to the park (and when I say 2 miles, I mean 2 miles, pretty much uphill the whole way.) I was quite impressed! She's getting so big!

"Mommy....

Can I work with you in your commercial kitchen?" says Sofie as I am baking.
"Sure," I say, "I would love that!"
"Is it the same like the commercials on TV?" she asks...
"No," I explained, "It's just a really big, nice kitchen."
"Oh." "Are you going to be on TV like Rachael Ray in your commercial kitchen?"
"I wish! But nope."
What makes me laugh so hard about this conversation, is that I never said anything to her about a "commercial kitchen" but she must have over heard me talking to my hubby about how much i would someday like to have one. Funny how their little minds interpret things! Ya gotta love em for it!

Preschool Graduation...

Today was Sofie's preschool graduation. This is actually the 3rd year we have been to the "graduation ceremony" but this year it was really special. Not only because she was actually graduating from preschool, but also because she SANG EVERY SONG. Those of you who know my daughter well, know that when it comes to performing, she's very, very shy. She usually ends up standing there with her eyes pointed downward and her thumb tapping her bottom lip. That is exactly what I had anticipated seeing, so you can imagine my surprise when she started singing and dancing, and smiling during every song. Although there was a part in the middle where she began yawning and looked bored out of her mind, but she quickly snapped out of it when they began singing "If you're happy and you know it" and she was completely energetic when she walked up to get her diploma and announce what she wants to be when she grows up - "A fairy princess that rides a unicorn". Ahhh, to be young again and have such fantastic hopes and dreams!
And just as a side note - I always thought I would be one of those mom's that would be so ready for my kids to go to kindergarten that I would be pushing them out the door and throwing a party on their first day. Well, not so much. Turns out I'm a total sucker. I cried at kindergarten orientation and was holding back tears during the whole program today. Heck, I don't even know if I will make it through the first day of kindergarten. It just seems like she is growing up so fast and it only gets faster when they start going to school. If only there was some way to slow it down!

The photos above are all of the graduation. The really sweet lady in the pink is Miss Karen, Sofie's wonderful preschool teacher... We will miss her! And the girl's she's with are Cambree and Sophia - her 2 best friends from school.
Below is a picture from our celebratory lunch at Sofie's favorite, Chili's and the video is a graduation "interview" with Sofie.

A Day at the Park

We have discovered a great little park near the lake. My kids love it. I think we've been there every sunny day for the last 2 weeks. I can't think of anything more fun than packing my kids in the bike trailer and riding to play at the park on a warm day. This is exactly what I craved each and every long day of the long and treacherous and long, and did I say long? WINTER. Thank you for returning, Summer. We missed you!

Little Swimmer

I just want Sofie to know how proud I am of her. Everything she tries, she excels at. She is taking swimming lessons right now and she can swim across the entire pool. And she's only 5! I don't even know if I could do that! Way to go Sof!

Girl's Night Out

Occasionally my hubby agrees to be the one in charge of the kids, and the little monsters go to bed early, and the planets and stars are all aligned.... And I get to enjoy a night out with my girlfriends! We all went to see "Made of Honor". It's not Oscar worthy, but Patrick Dempsey is good lookin, and there were no kids there! It was great fun. Oh, and I am the lame-o who is wearing flip-flops. Everyone else followed Tina's instructions and wore high-heels! Maybe next time!

My cousins.

My mom and I gave a baby shower for my cute cousin Breck (who is about to pop) last night. It was so much fun! My mom comes from a family of 6 siblings, all pretty close together, and everyone had kids themselves. I have several cousins, basically my same age, all either have kids or are about to have kids (yay Breck!). It's so much fun every time we get together. And we always say we need to get together more often, but apparently it takes someone getting married, someone having a baby, or Christmas to get us all in the same room. So sad! But HEY! Thanks to miracle of blogging, we can, at least, vicariously enjoy one an other's lives;)

Who needs Disneyland...

...when you have an office chair? I think I've talked about this in a previous post, but isn't it great and wonderful that children can find joy in the smallest things?

And isn't it funny how much we enjoy making our kids look silly? Like feeding them a lemon when they are first exploring foods and watching them make an old man face? Or spinning them around in an office chair and then watching them stumble around the room like they've tossed back one too many? (I was going to try and capture that on video too, but I was afraid the poor kid would crack his noggin on the corner of our desk, so I opted to put down the camera and help him!) And it's so fun to watch how Sofie reacts to little Thomas. She gets so excited when he laughs and has fun, and she is always looking out for him. I love watching them together. I love being a mom! And I love watching my hubby play with the kids too. He is so much fun!
